Since starting Everyday Lifters, I wasn’t sure how I felt about posting misses and emotional images like this one. Oh, man but they do something to you when you look at these. I’m embarrassed to say that since I don’t post them, that makes me a shitty sports photojournalist. Most days that’s what I am. How dare I pick and choose what to share- how is that documenting the sport? It’s not. There will be some changes to this account and how I approach photographing the sport. Notice the watermark? It’s been incredibly busy, and EDL projects had to be put on a mini hold. I hope to have episode 4 of 21 Questions Up tomorrow. In all my meetings and networking, I’ve been sharing with many the work I do as Everyday Lifters. Recently one of my clients asked me if weightlifting is an emotional sport. After the polite pause, I just told her, I am a better “people” photographer because of shooting weightlifting. All people photographers should try it at least once. ;-)

1st picture is an example of the kind of images I try to get at competitions. But for some reason at worlds last year, the cameramen just kept zooming in and there was no sign of stopping. They didn’t do this to everyone but I remember Jenny Arthur getting the “All Up in Yo Face Shot too. 🤷‍♀️ ha! .
