JENNY ARTHUR & NORIK VARDANIAN
Jenny and Norik visited Dutchess County. I probably could just end the post right there. ha!
If you are from Dutchess County you can appreciate the fact that things are quiet in the Hudson Valley. When I heard that Crossfit 845 Poughkeepsie would be having Jenny and Norik at their new facility, I almost fell over. If you follow the sport of weightlifting, you know how awesome of an opportunity it would be to watch them teach a class.
When the weightlifting seminar started I took to Instagram to show my excitement and the messages started to come in:
"I would cry if I saw them!"
"Oh my gosh, it's Jenny!!!"
"Jenny looks so strong!"
Sorry Norik, all the love was for Jenny. All the ladies were head over heels for her. lol
Norik, also known as Steve when he orders coffee at Starbucks, started out the seminar with a little history about weightlifting in his family and Jenny shared how the sport was introduced to her. As soon as the warmup was over, it was right to the muscle snatch.
"PR TECHNIQUE BEFORE WEIGHTS"
Although super chill and playful when teaching, they were very serious when it came to providing the class quality instruction. You could see Jenny and Norik keeping a watchful eye of everyone in the room. "Pr technique", was the vibe for the day.
During break, we all got a chance to watch Jenny and Norik lift. Jenny with the clean and jerk and Norik with the snatch. One of my favorite moments was when Norik told everyone to take note on how Jenny approached the barbell when she went heavy in the clean and jerk. Jenny approached the weights EXACTLY the same way she would if she was competing. It didn't matter where she was and what was going on around her, her focusing was that of an Olympian.
Jenny and Norik encouraged questions. They enjoyed talking to everyone and more importantly, everyone in the room seemed so comfortable to approach them. The atmosphere was buzzing with knowledge.
If you get a chance this year, you must sign up for one of their seminars. Check out their Instagram accounts for more information!
