Not Your Mother's Gainz
"Can you come to a Zumba class with me?!"
Is often what I am asked when I talk to other mothers about what they do to stay active. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with Zumba, because there is something to be said about folks who dedicate time out during the day to stay active. It's not an easy thing to do. But I do find myself alone as a mother who loves the Sport of Olympic Weightlifting.
A few things I have come across as a mother who is a weightlifter:
Scenario 1: Planning playdates and trying to explain to other mothers you need to get your training in. They look at you and say, "You must really like Body Building!" (Yeah, sometimes I cringe.) hahaha!
Scenario 2: Doesn't it bother your husband you do THIS?
Scenario 3: Aren't you afraid of getting hurt? My response: When I use to ride my bike, I had fallen off twice, hit a stranger and almost got hit by a truck.
My favorite... Scenario 4: Why do you drive so far to JUST go to the gym? My response: The women are really HOT!
Are you a female Crossfitter? A mother, a grandmother? Do you love weightlifting as much as I do? What are your thoughts? Curious about what you think. Comment below!
